Even as many people think twice before spending money, a techie, aspiring to be a politician is ready to splurge on his campaign.

Janardhan Swamy, a 40-year-old US return, plans to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and is hopeful of a BJP ticket from Chitradurga.


"I know I am a good human being and that's it. If people have to know me, I will have to go to different places, move around and have publicity material. For this money has to be spent," he said.

Janardhan did not divulge how much he would spend on campaigning, but added, "I hope to raise funds from friends. He is already sending appeals through emails to techies.

Janardhan said he does not feel getting into politics is a bad idea.u00a0 "Why should illiteracy be the qualification to get into politics? I don't think my qualification is any hindrance. If a realtor can get into politics, why not engineers?" he asked.
