"The main criteria for choosing a band or a performer for this event is a high standard of songwriting and performance set in a acoustic/semi-acoustic vibe," says Uday Benegal, one of India's first rock musicians, who fronted bands like Rock Machine, Indus Creed and Alms for Shanti. The rocker, who will be sourcing, selecting and presenting new talent for the Tuborg Acoustic Adventure, feels it's high time that talented musicians got a chance to explore the acoustic space. "Rock is doing pretty well as a genre, so is electronica. But nobody is exploring the acoustic space to its optimum."

Uday Benegal will be performing with former band mate Mahesh Tinaikar

The plan is to have up to four bands or artists perform at each concert. At least one band, in some cases two, will be a well known one to draw in the crowds and provide an interesting twist to their regular sound and repertoire. The idea is to provide the audience with a variety of sounds and styles, and the experience of listening to a combination of experienced and younger musicians. Uday will also be performing with his former bandmate, Mahesh Tinaikar.

Today's gig will see Nikhil D'souza, who has been seen performing at Mumbai clubs like Blue Frog, perform. "It's great for singer-songwriters who are trying to put out original material. This kind of music is limited to a particular genre it can be anything, pop, rock or folk."
