Nayak had moved the apex court against the 2007 Bombay High Court order that refused to interfere in the proceedings initiated against him by a special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court.
Named after his mother, Radha Nayak Government High School is located at Yennehole, Karkala in Udipi district. It was inaugurated by Amitabh Bachchan along with many other Bollywood personalities.
The school management organised a function to celebrate the SC ruling. After an indoor function, students assembled at the playground where a fireworks display was organised.
The SC ruling came in the case filed by Journalist Ketan Tirodkar.
In his complaint, Tirodkar had alleged that Nayak indulged in extortion and was linked to gangster Chhota Shakeel.
"The SC quashed the case against Nayak as prior sanction of the government was not obtained by the complainant," said Nayak's counsel Shivaji Jadhav.
