During the course of the night, the wedding was called off and simultaneously Revanna's health deteriorated. By 4 am his colleagues discovered his absence and went in search of him.
According to the choultry staffers, Revanna was discovered in a critical condition vomiting blood in the washroom. Caretaker of the Choultry, Jagadish, confirmed that Revanna died in the washroom and said, "He appeared to be an alcoholic and died in the bath room and the body has been sent to Victoria Hospital."
Regarding Revanna's presence in the hall, Jagadish said, "I just got to know from our night caretaker that he was part of the band hired for the wedding that was called off." The police were informed after efforts by his colleagues failed to revive him, and he was rushed to Victoria where he was declared dead. According to the police, Revanna was suffering from cancer and was an alcoholic.
Basaveshwarnagar Police Inspector Hanumathappa said, "He died in the convention hall and was taken to Victoria hospital. We are enquiring with the Choultry staff and the band members. After we receive the post mortem report, we will know more."
