The DGP (recruitment and training) has filed a cheating complaint against Priya Malina Mani, who had passed the WPI exams last year without completing her degree and had actually passed the exams after she was selected for the post.

The lie came to light when Bangalore University's evaluation department replied to the verification quarries of the police department who had sent Mani's certificates for authentication.

Syed Ulfath Hussain, who is in-charge of recruitment and training, said that Mani had applied for the post of Women Police Sub Inspector (civil) last year, and got through her physical and written tests successfully.

Considering her scores, the department had asked her to appear for an interview and had asked her to submit her original educational certificates. Mani cleared her interview as well, and requested the officers concerned that she would submit her first year degree later, as she had misplaced it. Mani added said that she had applied for copies of the marksheet, and would submit them later.

Considering her request, the department has not only allowed her but also permitted her to go ahead for the final medical examination, which is mandatory for the candidate before training.

As per her promise, Mani submitted her complete set of marksheets in February this year, which were sent to the Bangalore University for verification. The department of evaluation has replied that though Mani's certificates are genuine, she had passed the exam after getting selected for the job.

Giving details of the account, Hussain said that Mani had completed her BSc from Bangalore University in December 2009, six months after getting selected for the job.

"Mani has cheated the state government by trying to secure a job using fake documents and she should be booked for cheating the government," Hussain said.

The High grounds police have taken up a case and are on the lookout for Mani who is a resident of Nelamangala, situated on the outskirts of Bangalore.
