Brought together by 'his bereavement' and 'her mental suffering', Jackie Kennedy and her brother-in-law Bobby Kennedy had an intense affair, claims a new book.
Dailymail.co.uk reports that C David Heymann's book titled Bobby and Jackie: A Love Story claims the affair was so intense that it was Jackie and not Bobby's wife Ethel who ordered doctors to turn off his life support machine after he was shot in 1968, five years after his brother, then president John F Kennedy, was assassinated.
There are a few political insiders and celebrities who have been quoted in the book.
Franklin Roosevelt Jr, who worked with John F Kennedy in the White House, says in the book: "Everybody knew about the affair. The two of them carried on like a pair of lovesick teenagers."
Well-known author Truman Capote said: "It was the coming together of a man and a woman as a result of his bereavement and her mental suffering at the hands of her late lecherous husband. It was passionate, but it was doomed."
