An Argentine has set a new Guinness record of playing guitar for over 100 hours non-stop, almost double the earlier longest solo performance by Indian guitarist Sebastian Joseph.
Sebastian Joseph , 41-year-old guitarist from Thrissur in Kerala, entered the select club of Guinness world record holders after his marathon guitar performance lasting 55.30 hours at a concert in his home state in October 2008.
Guillermo Terraza continued to play the instrument for 100 hours while performing at a charity show for the victims of the Feb 27 earthquake in neighbouring Chile's southern town of Comodoro Rivadavia, 2,000 km from Buenos Aires.
Terraza's feat was celebrated by hundreds of audience who stayed with him during the four days and four hours of performance.
In 2000, the guitarist played 36 hours at a stretch in Comodoro Rivadavia and then surpassed his own record two years ago when he played for 50 hours non-stop in Italy.
Terraza, a resident of Italy who has beaten the Guinness record five times, put on a variety of music and dance performances to collect funds for the victims of the magnitude-8.8 temblor that shook Chile, leaving more than 400 dead and some 800,000 people injured or displaced.
During the recital, the musician played his guitar chords with permitted rests of five minutes per hour.
