Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) information secretary and senator Tariq Azeem has said transmission of all Indian channels being relayed in the country be stopped in line with decision of senate standing committee on information and broadcasting.
Azeem said the Indian government had jammed transmission of all Pakistani TV channels in that country in the past. But "our government was showing apathy on this issue."
"During our stint in government, senate standing committee on information and broadcasting had announced unanimous decision that all Indian channels' transmission be halted in Pakistan. This decision was implemented as well," the Online news agency reported citing the Pakistani senator.
But the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) under the present government had given a free hand to all cable operators to relay Indian channels, he told reporters on Sunday.
Azeem said he would take up this issue in the first meeting of senate standing committee on information and broadcasting besides discussing this issue in the next session of senate.
