But at least Brutus didn't behave like a bear with a sore head even though he is a 500-kg grizzly bear.
Brutus, all 7'8" of him, was given the job of best man by wildlife trainer Casey Anderson when he married Hollywood actress Missi Pyle.
Casey hand-reared seven-year-old Brutus from a cub after he was born into captivity and faced being put down because he could not be released into the wild.
Now the pair are like father and son. Casey (33) says, "I take him for long walks. I swim with him and I've even started teaching him how to fish."
And yesterday Casey revealed that the tame grizzly even "introduced" him to his future wife when Missi (36) and Brutus were co-starring in the film Pretty Ugly People, so he was the obvious choice for best man at the wedding in Swan Valley, USA.
Missi said, "We wanted Brutus as the ring bearer but the game and wildlife people wouldn't let us."
Brutus performed his duties perfectly and none of the 85 guests dared complain when he ate the wedding cake.
