Hansal Mehta and Daughter Join Kolkata Rape-Murder Protest in Mumbai

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta took a stand for justice by joining a protest in Mumbai, demanding action and accountability in the tragic case of a 31-year-old trainee doctor who was raped and murdered at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Hansal Mehta and his daughter were spotted standing with placards in hand along with other protestors in Mumbai. The postgraduate trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. The incident has sparked nationwide protests and strikes by the medical community. Protests have been held in various cities, including Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai, and Kolkata, with demands for justice for the victim and punishment for the accused

Bangladesh Violence: Hindus demonstrators take to streets demanding safety

The safety of minority communities, specially Hindus, in violence-hit Bangladesh remains a concern. On August 09, a large gathering of Hindu demonstrators took to the Dhaka streets against attacks on their properties. Protesters held placards reading ‘Hindu lives matter’, ‘Save Bangladeshi Hindus’ and photographs of vandalised Hindu houses & temples. As per Reuters, Hindus constitute about 8 pc of Muslim-majority Bangladesh’s 170 mn people and have largely supported Hasina’s ALP. Notably, Hindu temples, businesses and institutions have reportedly been targeted in Bangladesh. Earlier, EAM Jaishankar expressed concern over the situation in the neighboring country while highlighting attacks on minorities.

Cloudbursts, landslides & other natural disasters affect Kedarnath Yatra Route

Heavy rains have caused the Mandakini river to flood, washing away roads and electric poles in Sonprayag and Gaurikund, which are on the way to the Kedarnath Yatra Route. Since Wednesday evening, at least six people have died in rain-related incidents across Uttarakhand. Many pilgrims and tourists are now stranded on the Sonprayag-Kedarnath road due to the severe weather. Cloudbursts, landslides and other natural disasters have affected Kedarnath Yatra Route. The situation is dire as the flooding has disrupted travel and caused significant damage in the region. Efforts are underway to help those affected and restore normalcy. Watch video for more.
