The famed Virender Sehwag- Gautam Gambhir opening pair has not fired and champions like Glenn McGrath and Daniel Vettori are warming the bench but Delhi Daredevils have outshone others in the ongoing IPL with sheer consistency, feels Kings XI Punjab coach Tom Moody.
Delhi are at the top of the points table with maximum 16 points from minimum 10 matches played so far and assured of a place in the semi-finals.
"I think they have just been consistent. They have had top-order batsmen who have stood up. Gautam Gambhir at the top of the order, Virender Sehwag when he has played. AB de Villiers has been brilliant, Tillekeratne Dilshan's been brilliant. So they have had their top four firing at all times," he said.
Moody also said emergence of Dutch-born Dirk Nannes and the resurgence of Ashish Nehra also worked for Delhi at the right time.
"They have Nannes who has bowled well upfront. They have a consistent bowling line-up that can execute throughout the innings. They have got their basics right," Moody told IPL's official website.
Kings XI Punjab vice-captain Kumar Sangakkara echoed his coach's sentiments.
"They have been a fantastic all-round side; everyone has done his job really well. Everyone coming in and everyone playing all throughout the tournament have done exceptionally well. And they have backed their batting, bowling display with some excellent fielding too," he said.
