Delhi Daredevils Team Profile

Delhi Daredevils

AB DE VILLIERS: An accomplished batsman who can deliver the goods in all forms of the game. The South African was one of Delhi's main weapons in the second edition of the IPL.

WAYNE PARNELL: Young and energetic, Parnell's pace bowling has bamboozled many top batsmen and the Daredevils will be looking to him to lead the attack. Has now the experience of playing in India too.

VIRENDER SEHWAG: Most bowlers dread to bowl to him and having given up captaincy to concentrate on batting, Sehwag could be even more dangerous this season.

GAUTAM GAMBHIR: Resurrected his international career thanks to Twenty20. Has been very consistent in all forms of the game in the last few years and will be one of the mainstays of the Delhi batting.

TILLAKARATNE DILSHAN: Reinvented himself as a batsman while opening the innings in the last edition of the IPL. His Dilscoop has caught everyone's imagination.

DAVID WARNER: A typical Australian batsman who likes to bludgeon the ball rather than caress it. Can clear most Australian boundaries so hitting sixes in India should be a piece of cake for him.

DINESH KARTHIK: Hasn't done his batting talent a lot of justice playing for Delhi or India. But he has showed spark in the two editions coming up with important knocks. Is in good form so this could be his year.

AMIT MISHRA: A hat-trick in the first edition propelled him into the limelight and he has gone from strength to strength. His leg spin will be very useful in a side that does not have many frontline spinners.

ASHISH NEHRA: Was the pick of the bowlers in the second edition in South Africa and has even earned a place in the Indian side. If fit, he can be menacing with the new ball.

FARVEEZ MAHAROOF: Has the pace to trouble the batsman and also has the shots to score runs at a quick pace. The Lankan will be very useful in Indians conditions.

PRADEEP SANGWAN: The left-arm bowler was impressive in the first edition of the IPL but did not get as many chances in the second. With a lot of left-arm pacers in the side, he might be played in rotation.

RAJAT BHATIA: Has been a vital player for Delhi's Ranji Trophy team but has not had a huge impact in the IPL. A handy batsman and a useful medium pace bowler.

DIRK NANNES: Surprised everyone with his impressive left-arm swing bowling in the first edition of the IPL. Also did well in the second and Delhi will look to him to continue his run.

Avishkar Salvi: Called the Glen McGrath of Indian cricket because of a similar action and ability to bowl a nagging line, the Mumbai lad might not get many chances to feature in the playing XI.

Moises Henriques: Traded for Manoj Tewary from Kolkata Knight Riders, many hold the Aussie all-rounder in high regard but he is yet to have a serious impact in the IPL.
