Embarking on an important tour to New Zealand later this month, Team India will wear the new deep blue jersey for the one-day internationals, which was unveiled at a suburban five-star hotel in Mumbai on Wednesday.
However, the current ODI kit (crisp blue) will remain as Team India's alternate dress.
This is the second time Team India has changed its colours in last couple of years. Team India skipper M S Dhoni, pacer Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj Singh, Dinesh Karthik, Pragyan Ojha and Rohit Sharma unveiled the jersey.
Former cricketers like Venkatesh Prasad, Robin Singh, Vinod Kambli and L Shivramakrishnan were also present sporting the old blue jersey.
Dhoni said: "It would look good, won't get dirty easily."
Speaking on the occasion of the launch, BCCI secretary N Srinivasan said: "Cricket in India has witnessed a paradigm shift in the recent past -- from Test cricket to T20, the journey has seen change. A change that has been embraced with all associated the game while still retaining the true spirit and essence of it. We wish our teams' great success in the coming seasons."
The new ODI kit, which is a result of extensive research, promises to have better sweat management and light weight. The apparel further ensures superior comfort levels and enhanced performance.
