US President Barack Obama is likely to be in attendance when the International Olympic Committee chooses the host country for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Copenhagen, supporting Chicago's bid to host the games.

Chicago - along with Tokyo, Madrid and Rio de Janeiro - is in the fray to stage the 2016 Games.

The Chicago bid committee would make a final presentation to the IOC on October 2 this year and after a secret ballot, the IOC would announce which city gets to host the games.

On October 2, President Obama is expected to be present with the Chicago delegation in Copenhagen, Denmark when the final presentations would be made to the IOC, said Michael Murnane from a non-profit agency for Chicago's Olympic bid.

"That is when the final vote would be made and the host city announced," he added.

The International Olympic Committee Evaluation Commission would visit Chicago between April 2 and 8 to evaluate the city's plan for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Later in June, a delegation from Chicago would make another presentation in IOC's headquarters in Switzerland highlighting the city's preparedness for the games.

Obama has already chipped in by providing a video message for the bid for earlier presentations to international delegates.
