Brawn GP boss Ross Brawn hailed a "stunning" performance from his drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello after they secured a third season one-two at the Monaco Grand Prix yesterday.

"It's a special race and a challenging weekend and in those circumstances, first and second is just stunning," said Brawn.

Brawn GP drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello celebrate their third one-two of the season at the Monaco Grand Prix yesterday. Button won his fifth race of the season, while Barrichello finished second.

Asked if he felt Button's performance was that of a champion-to-be, Brawn said: "Yeah, I'm lost for words with him really. He's exceeding everything I thought possible."

Barrichello agreed and said his team-mate was "on fire" this season.

"I had a great start and got the jump and run on Kimi (Raikkonen) and then I drove with tremendous pace behind Jenson," he said.

"But I was perhaps too close and I was sliding a bit and I think I grained the tyres and my lap times dropped from 1:16s to 1:20s so Jenson pulled away.

"Really, he won the race (in qualifying) yesterday because it gives you such great momentum to start from the front."

He added, "I had to drive differently," he said. "But I had a great time. I wanted to win. But Jenson is on fire right now and he is not making any mistakes at all."

Raikkonen finished third ahead of Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa and said that, although he was unimpressed by his own performance, he was pleased by the signs of encouragement shown by his team after their dreadful start to the year.
