Dubbed as a Test side because of the presence of many Test stars in side, they finished second from bottom in the first edition but managed an upset of sorts finishing runners-up in the second without a lot of changes to the squad. The change in captaincy from Kevin Pietersen, who left for England duties in the middle of the second IPL, to Anil Kumble turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the legendary leggie managed to get the best out of the side.
