The IPL 2020 season was one of the most entertaining IPLs with many players striking the right chord while some missing a note in the entire edition. A look at the hits and misses in the 13th edition of the IPL.

HERO - KL Rahul: The Kings XI Punjab skipper not only led from the front but also stole the show in the batting department and ran away with the Orange Cap at IPL 2020 as he was the highest run-getter with 670 runs including 1 record-breaking hundred and five fifties with an average of 55.83 and strike rate of 129.34. Rahul was also awarded the Dream 11 Gamechanger of the Season. KL will be picking up where he left off as a leader and as a player next year.
FALLEN - MS Dhoni: The Chennai Super Kings captain had his worst season in his IPL career this year. For the first time in IPL history, CSK did not make it to the playoffs as they finished 7th on the points table. Dhoni scored 200 runs with a batting average of 25.00 and a strike rate of 116.27 and a top score of 47*. MS Dhoni will most likely lead CSK next year as well and will look to deliver on a larger scale as only he can.
HERO - Shikhar Dhawan: 'Gabbar' has had a wonderful season at IPL 2020 with Delhi Capitals as he delivered at crucial stages and emerged as the second-highest run-getter with 618 runs and was the first to hit 2 consecutive hundreds in IPL history. Dhawan scored 4 fifties with an average of 44.14 and strike rate of 144.73. Dhawan will look to cement his place as a veteran player next year as well with his batting skills.
FALLEN - Prithvi Shaw: The Delhi Capitals opening batsman did not manage to deliver to his potential and could only manage 228 runs from 13 matches at an average of just 17.53 and a strike rate of 136.52. Shaw had 2 fifties with a top score of 66. He will be looking to brush off this lull and do better next year.
HERO - Ishan Kishan: The Mumbai Indians batsman was unarguably one of the highlights this IPL 2020 and had his best season so far. Kishan amassed 516 runs with a stunning average of 57.33 and strike rate of 145.76 which included 4 fifties and a top score of 99, also his career-best. Kishan also hit the most sixes (30) in IPL 2020. This is just the beginning for this Mumbai Indians star.
FALLEN - Kuldeep Yadav: The Kolkata Knight Riders spinner had one of his worst seasons in IPL as he managed only 1 wicket in 5 matches averaging at 92.00 with an economy rate of 7.66. Kuldeep will be looking to make a strong statement next season.
HERO - Devdutt Padikkal: The most valuable find at IPL 2020 - Devdutt Padikkal! The Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman the highest run-scorer for his team ahead of skipper Virat Kohli. Padikkal showed promise in his batting with a total of 473 runs at an average of 31.53 and strike rate of 124.80. He had a total of five vital fifties posted with a top score of 74. His mesmerising show earned him the Emerging Player of the Season award. Devdutt Padikkal has a 'Royal' future and we hope he is up for the 'Challenge' ahead!
FALLEN - Andre Russell: The Kolkata Knight Riders trailblazing all-rounder did not shine this season with just 117 runs and 6 wickets coming from him in 10 matches. Compared to his brilliant performance last season, Russell failed to deliver for KKR with the bat averaging at a mere 13. His injury mid-season further caused a dip in his performance. Dre Rus will aim to shine bright as a knight next year.
HERO - Kagiso Rabada: The Delhi Capitals pacer was the star in the bowling department becoming the leading wicket-taker in IPL 2020 with 30 wickets and bagged the Purple Cap. Rabada's best figures were 4/24 at an economy rate of 8.34. Let's see if Rabada can break the most wickets in a season record (32) next year.
FALLEN - Sunil Narine: The Kolkata Knight Riders spinner from West Indies did not manage to make a desirable impact this IPL 2020 season. Narine, who has usually been a highlight with bat and ball, took just 5 wickets at an economy rate of 7.94 and best figures of 2/28. A forgettable season for Narine, he will be looking to put this behind him and put on a better show next season.
HERO - Jasprit Bumrah: The Mumbai Indians star pacer had a marvellous season at IPL 2020. Bumrah was the second-leading wicket-taker and the top wicket-taker for MI with 27 wickets. With a brilliant spell of 4/14 against Delhi Capitals, Bumrah's economy rate was a healthy 6.73 with an average of 18.26. More to expect from him next season.
FALLEN - Robin Uthappa: The former 'Knight' who went on to become a 'Royal' at IPL 2020 did not manage to become the X- factor in the team as he usually does. Uthappa has had one of his worst seasons in his IPL career, scoring just 196 runs from 12 matches averaging at an abysmal 16.33. It will be interesting to see how Robin will try and turn things around as a batsman next season.
HERO - Shreyas Iyer: The Delhi Capitals skipper had unarguably his best season in IPL by taking DC to the IPL finals for the first time in history. Not only did Shreyas display his impressive leadership skills, but he was also the leading run-scorer for his team and fourth-highest overall with 519 runs with an average of 34.60 and strike rate of 123.27. Shreyas had 3 fifties with a top score of 88*. He will be gunning for the title next year, for sure!
FALLEN - Pat Cummins: The costliest player at the IPL 2020 auctions did not live up to his price! Kolkata Knight Riders top-billed all-rounder Cummins did not impress this season with 12 wickets averaging at 34.08 and 146 runs at a batting average of 20.85. Cummins will have a lot to prove next year for his team.
HERO - Suryakumar Yadav: Probably the batsman who created the most impact in the subtlest of ways, Surya was a vital cog in the Mumbai Indians outfit. Yadav scored 480 runs at an impressive batting average of 40.00. Surya had a strike rate of 145.01 and also scored 4 valuable 50s with a top score of 79* - his career-best.
FALLEN - Jaydev Unadkat: The Rajasthan Royals pacer did not manage to put on any stellar performances this year with just 4 wickets form 7 matches he played, making it one of his worst seasons in IPL. Hopefully, Unadkat will not look back and make amends the next year.
HERO - David Warner: The Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper yet again proved his mettle and consistency for another year. Warner led his team to the playoffs and was also SRH's highest-run scorer and third-highest overall with 548 runs at an average of 39.14 and strike rate of 134.64. He also managed to set a record as the only player to score above 500 runs in 6 consecutive IPL seasons. Warner is like wine and can only get better!
FALLEN - Glenn Maxwell: The Kings XI Punjab all-rounder Maxwell did rather minimal this IPL 2020. Maxi did not impress this year with just 108 runs and 3 wickets from 13 matches. For a player of his calibre, there were much more expectations. Maxwell will have to wait till next year to show his worth again.
HERO - Trent Boult: The Mumbai Indians 'Lightning Bolt' pacer delivered as expected from him and formed a brilliant pace duo with Bumrah. Boult was the third-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2020 with 25 wickets at an average of 18.28 and economy rate of 7.97. Boult's best figures were 4/18 but his performance of 3/30 in the final earned him the Man-of-the-Match award. Boult also won the CRED Power Player of the Season award.
