A match between India and England, in which India batted first and scored 338 runs against England. Sachin Tendulkar scored 120 runs and Yuvraj Singh smashed 58 runs. During India's bowling, Zaheer Khan and England's skipper Andrew Strauss had a word exchange. Khan then took 3 wickets in that match including the wicket of Andrew Strauss who smashed 158 runs. The match ended with a tie with England scoring 338 runs for loss of 8 wickets

In the 2011 World Cup, 3rd quarter-final match between South Africa and New Zealand, the Kiwis snatched the win from South Africa at Mirpur. Not very famously known Jesse Ryder, smashed 83 runs for New Zealand in that match. Morne Morkel picked 3 wickets and New Zealand's innings ended at a score of 221 runs for 8 wickets. South Africa's Jacques Kallis tried South Africa to win the match but Tim Southee ended his inning for 47 runs. South Africa was bowled out for 172 runs

An electrifying semi-final match between India and Pakistan at Mohali where India batted in the first innings and made 260 runs for Pakistan to chase. Sachin Tendulkar scored 85 runs. Pakistan's Misbah-Ul-Haq smashed 56 runs against India but was not able to take Pakistan to the finals. India entered the final of 2011 World Cup by defeating Pakistan in the semi-final

A match between England and Ireland in which Jonathan Trott smashed 92 runs for England to set up a total of 327 runs. Ireland's Kevin O'Brien played an inning of 113 runs to help Ireland chase the target and win against England. Ireland won the match by scoring 329 runs at a loss of 7 wickets

A match like no other, a match that is etched in the hearts of millions of Indians, a match that is unforgettable, a match in which sacrifices were made by players. In the final of the 2011 World Cup in Wankhede, Sri Lanka batted in the first inning in which Mahela Jayawardene made 103 runs and with the help of him, Sri Lanka registered a total of 274 runs for India to chase. India's Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli and M.S. Dhoni took control over India's batting after the dismissal of Indian openers Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. The final match ended in India's favour with the famous 'Dhoni finishes off in style' six. India was successful in chasing down the total and winning the final of the 2011 World Cup against Sri Lanka
