Lady Gaga plans high-octane show at India F1 gig

American singing sensation Lady Gaga on Friday vowed to channel her inner "Indian hippie" to deliver a unique show at this weekend's inaugural Formula One race in New Delhi.

The pop diva wore an asymmetrical gown by Indian-American designer Naeem Khan topped off with a bouffant hairstyle in the colours of the Indian flag, as she spoke to reporters ahead of her concert on Sunday evening.

She said she had a deep interest in famed Indian guru Osho, who died in 1990, and that her first performance in the country, scheduled after the F1 race, would showcase "a hybrid of my vision and the vision of India."

"I am, I guess, an Indian hippie," she told a press conference that was covered live by television news channels.

The popstar, who is as famous for her head-turning costumes as her music, said she would be incorporating Indian DJs into her performance at the newly-built racetrack outside Delhi.

Up to 100,000 fans are expected at the Buddh International Circuit for the race, with the cheapest tickets costing 2,500 rupees ($50).

But separate tickets will be needed for Lady Gaga's concert, which is one of a series of glitzy after-race parties.

The singer's efforts to crack the lucrative South Asian market have seen her release Bollywood-style remixes of hit singles such as "Just Dance", "Born This Way" and "Judas."

"For me, my experience of music and my relationship with music is as experimental as possible," she said, promising Indian fans a spectacle which would be "unique for India."

US heavy metal outfit Metallica play at a pre-race gig in the satellite town of Gurgaon later Friday ahead of the heavily-anticipated race.
