Suranjoy as well as Indian coaches GS Sandhu and Iglesias Fernandez clearly showed their displeasure to the judges for not awarding points to the Indian despite him having landed a series of punches to the Chinese's face.
"They were only counting his points. My punches were just not being accounted for. He was also pushing me to avoid me coming close. I should have won this fight," Suranjoy said.u00a0
Chang, who was fighting for the first time in an international competition, also conceded: "My opponent was very strong."
Coach Sandhu said: "Suranjoy is upset with the result and is in tears backstage. He was a sure shot gold medallist for us, but I can't comment about the umpiring as it comes under the code of conduct.
"However, I promise one thing ufffd this defeat will only spur Suranjoy on to greater heights. He will work even harder and will surely win a medal at the 2012 London Olympics."
