Along with your moves, dandiya nights are also about style statement you make night after night. And you want to let your hair down, without it whipping someone in the face. We bring your simple DIY hairstyles that will turn you into a fire-starter and feel comfy, on all 10 days.
One of the easiest hairstyles that helps you keep your head light and breezy is when you tie a low ponytail and pull the holder a little lower. "Part the hair above the rubber band in the centre and flip the pony tail through the gap, all the way through," says Vandana Shirgoankar, a hair and makeup artist from Belapur. "Retighten the ponytail a bit, but and make sure that the hair doesn't puff up in the middle; smoothen in out."

The easiest is to stop soft curls from blocking your sight on the dance floor is using a humble bob pin or two. Mid-length curls can be crafted either using a hair curler or a flat iron. With the latter, the trick is to twist and pull your hair away from your face both and the same time. "Curls have a tendency to lose coil with time but all you need to do is invest in a hairspray from your local grocery store and you are set for the day," says Shirgaonkar.
The side braid is best to handle all your Dandiya fervour as it won't fall apart no matter what. The side braid look is asymmetrical and on the side of your head, part it to 1 side. Please remember that the braid is not going to be straight down the back of your head. After you completely braid your hair place an elastic band around the end of the braid. To add your special touch, arrange any stray wisps of hair.
A maang tika is essential to this DIY as it adds the oomph factor to a relatively simple hairstyle that comes together in jiffy. "After you fix the maang tika," Shirgaonkar says, "fix three fourth of your hair in a ponytail and leave a little hair at the bottom. Then, pull your hair through a donut, and secure the latter with U-pins. Spread the hair over the donut and secure with a rubber band." The bun is best formed when you puff it up a bit and wind up the hair around the donut. "Finally, lift up the unsecured section under the ponytail and twirl with a curling iron perfect mermaid waves," she says.
