Cooped up at home in 2020 like all of us, Akshita Nagpal found herself reading Urdu books and poetry. Nagpal, whose grandparents migrated to India during the Partition, could already speak and write Urdu. "After I lost my grandparents, this beautiful language left my life too." says Nagpal. She decided to learn Urdu and put up a post on Instagram asking if anyone was interested in learning it too. Requests poured in and she created the basic course - Shuruat-e-Urdu - that takes nine weeks and covers vocabulary, pronunciation and writing. She does this in a fun way by using famous movie dialogues, songs and poetry. The classes are conducted over Google Meet and the next batch starts on August 16.
RECOMMENDED BY: Tabinda Usmani, 33, Media and Content Manager, Sharjah, UAE "Shuruat-e-Urdu was the course I needed to refresh and brush up on my mother tongue. The course was very well designed to help people understand the basics of Urdu with fun facts added to make it interesting."
