Pune Porsche Accident: Father Of Minor Accused Arrested

Two individuals, including a young woman, lost their lives after a luxury car collided with their motorcycle near Kalyani Nagar in Pune in the early hours of May 19. The deceased have been identified as Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa. The driver of the car, who is a minor, was apprehended. But, he was later granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board with several conditions aimed at rehabilitation and awareness. According to the Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the father of the minor accused has been detained from the Sambhajinagar area of Aurangabad district in Maharashtra on May 21. He further informed that the Pune Police are seeking permission to try the juvenile accused in the Pune rash driving case, which killed two people, as an adult under sections of the Juvenile Justice Act. “Police have taken yesterday`s incident seriously. We have taken action under section 304 of IPC, which is a non-bailable section as it was a heinous crime...A drunk car driver was rashly driving on a narrow lane,” the Pune Commissioner of Police told ANI. The police have charged the minor with rash and negligent driving and causing harm by endangering life or personal safety under IPC sections 304A, 279, 337, 338, and 427, along with relevant sections of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicle Act, added the DCP. India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) sources have learnt that there are 17 Indian nationals onboard cargo ship ‘MSC Aries’ has been taken control by Iran. India is in touch with the Iranian authorities through diplomatic channels, both in Tehran and in Delhi, to ensure security, welfare and early release of Indian nationals, the sources added. The conflict has intensified in West Asia after suspected Israeli airstrikes on Iran’s consulate in Syria`s capital Damascus and Tehran’s warning of retaliation.  A map showed the path of an Israeli-linked cargo ship, the MSC Aries, that had been seized between the United Arab Emirates and Iran, in the Persian Gulf, situated close to the Strait of Hormuz, on Saturday (April 13). The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) posted a warning on social media after having received a report on the vessel and said it had been “seized by regional authorities”. This after Iran warned earlier this week that it could close the Strait of Hormuz if necessary. The Aries is leased by international shipping line MSC from Gortal Shipping, an affiliate of Zodiac Maritime, Zodiac said in a statement, adding that MSC is responsible for all vessel activities. A deadly cyclone wreaked havoc in parts of WB’s Jalpaiguri as rain and hailstorms hit area causing major damage to life and property.
