Achyut Potdar, 91, a veteran Marathi actor well remembered for his memorable `Kehna Kya Chahte Ho` speech in 3 Idiots, died on Monday, August 18. He died at Jupiter Hospital in Thane, where he had been admitted due to health difficulties. Hours later, Aamir Khan expressed his sadness over his 3 Idiots co-star`s death.
Aamir Khan`s production house issued a heartfelt statement, "I am very saddened to hear about Achyutji`s passing away. He was an amazing actor, a wonderful human being, and a great colleague. We will miss you, Achyutji. My heartfelt condolences to his family."
Dr. Ravindra Ghawat, Director, Criminal Care Department, Jupiter Hospital, told PTI, "He was admitted to the hospital in a serious condition with respiratory and heart problems on Monday, about 4 p.m. He was put in the ICU. He died around 10:30 p.m. from cardiac problems caused by his high blood pressure and poor cardiovascular condition."
