Dharmendra passed away on November 24 at his home in Mumbai. The veteran superstar was cremated on the same day and his funeral was attended by several major celebrities. While Aamir Khan graced the funeral and also met the superstar while he was in the hospital two weeks back, the actor could not make it to the prayer meet. Dharmendra`s family organised a prayer meet on November 27 at a hotel in Mumbai. In Goa, attending the International Film Festival of India, Khan spoke about his bond with the late actor.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 56th International Film Festival of India, the actor shared that he had grown very close to Dharmendra, especially during the last year of his life. Aamir revealed that he met him around 7–8 times. On one of these visits, he decided to bring his son Azad along, believing it was important for Azad to meet the legendary actor whose work he hadn’t really experienced.
