Amaal Mallik opens up on sexual harassment allegations on uncle Anu Malik

Amaal Mallik has reacted to allegations of sexual harassment against uncle Anu Malik, aying he believes there may be truth to the allegations against him during the MeToo movement. He also accused Anu of sabotaging his father Daboo Malik’s career

Music composer Amaal Mallik has reacted to the sexual harassment allegations made against his uncle and musician Anu Malik. The allegations surfaced during the MeToo movement in 2018. Amaal said he does not consider Anu Malik family and explained why he never spoke about it back then.

In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Amaal said, “I didn’t talk or support Anu Malik when he was accused during the MeToo movement. It was not my concern because I don’t consider him my family. I was very embarrassed when he was accused of these things. We never had a relationship. But I think if so many people raised their voice against him, there must be some truth to it. Why would people come forward otherwise? There’s no smoke without fire. Five people can’t speak out against the same person without reason.”
He added, “Once my dad asked me if I too would be dragged into this movement. I said, there’s no chance. I can never be the person who asks for physical favours in return for songs. All the girls who’ve worked with me have felt safe.”
