Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma was in a celebratory mood since Tuesday night, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ended their 18-year drought in the IPL by lifting their maiden trophy. The actress has been a supporter of the team since 2014, when she began dating cricketer Virat Kohli. The RCB victory celebrations were continued in Bengaluru on Wednesday. However, the celebration soon turned fatal as 11 lives were lost in a stampede in areas around the Chinnaswamy stadium. Sharma has now expressed her grief at the lives lost during the stampede in Bengaluru.
The actress took to her Instagram, and reshared an official statement from the IPL team RCB, which brought the IPL trophy home this year. The stampede happened during the celebrations of the IPL team.
The statement read, "We are deeply anguished by the unfortunate incidents that have come to light through media reports regarding public gatherings all over Bengaluru in anticipation of the team`s arrival this afternoon. The safety and well-being of everyone is of utmost importance to us".
