Like most star-studded events, Shashi Kapoor's Dadasaheb Phalke Award function at the Prithvi Theatre on Sunday also had its share of controversy. Eyewitnesses claim Abhishek Bachchan did not greet his ex-fianc&eacute;e Karisma Kapoor at the event, although he was courteous to other members of the Kapoor khaandaan.

An onlooker says, "Many from the Kapoor family were seated in the front row. As soon as Abhishek arrived, he greeted and acknowledged all the attendees, but steered clear of Karisma, perhaps due to the awkward situation."
Junior Bachchan had got engaged to Karisma in 2002, but it was called off a few months later. Though many theories were floated about their break up, the real reason remains a mystery till date. Abhishek's sister Shweta, though, is very much a part of the Kapoor family as she is married to Karisma's cousin, Nikhil Nanda.
Another source says, "Abhishek sat next to Babita for some time during the function. They were seen chatting and shared some light hearted moments too. But we didn't see him speaking to Karisma, at least not till the media was around."
Abhishek Bachchan was not available for comment.
