Ayushmann Khurrana is back as Pooja in Dream Girl's sequel. The trailer of Dream Girl 2, directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, released yesterday at an event in Mumbai. Ananya Panday joined Ayushmann as the film's lead. The plot of the comedy-drama revolves around their relationship. For the unversed, Ayushmann plays Karam/Pooja whereas Ananya's character is named Pari. 

During the trailer launch of Dream Girl 2, Ananya was asked about romancing Ayushmann in the film despite a 14-year age gap. The actress said differences in age shouldn't create an obstacle while viewing a film and this has been prevalent in the cinema industry for the longest time. 

She told, "I don't think yeh aaj ka issue hai (I don't think this is today's issue). The age difference has always existed. People should not fixate on age while watching the film. If they are preoccupied with this factor, then it becomes a problem. As long as two actors are suitable for their respective roles, it's perfectly acceptable."

Dream Girl 2 also stars Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Annu Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, Manjot Singh, Rajpal Yadav, Manoj Joshi, Seema Pahwa and Vijay Raaz. Produced by Ektaa R Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, the film releases on August 25, 2023. The trailer of Dream Girl 2 begins with the return of Karam (Ayushmann) as Pooja. Dil Ka Telephone rings once again as he has to take the route of conning people. This time, the reason is his girlfriend (Ananya)'s father who puts forth a few demands. Amid this, he has to deal with adverse circumstances. 

Dream Girl starred Ayushmann with Nushrratt Bharuccha. It released in 2019. Raaj directed it. Dream Girl revolved around Karam, who takes up a call center job and begins talking to people as their phone pal named Pooja. However, things take an ugly turn when everyone competes to seek Pooja's attention. 

Apart from Dream Girl 2, Ananya will be seen in Zoya Akhtar-produced Kho Gaye Hum Kahan and Vikramaditya Motwane's Control. The actress has signed her first web show titled Call Me Bae. It is still in production. Ayushmann was last seen in An Action Hero.
