Anshula Kapoor’s initiative Fankind that started out by giving fans the opportunity to meet their favourite Bollywood stars by urging them to donate for various causes is back with a new edition. This time around, Fankind will auction autographed ‘Blue jerseys’ to be worn by the Royal Challengers Bangalore team on September 20, to raise funds for Give India’s ‘Vaccination for All’ mission. Speaking to mid-day.com, Anshula tells us all about the initiative.

How did the idea of bringing in a sports edition for Fankind come about?

When we launched Fankind, the idea was to cater to fans of celebrities across the board. Yes, we started our first season with the best experiences Bollywood has to offer. We have a feature where fans can suggest the celebrities they want to meet and we have heard the fans loud and clear. The RCB team as well as other sportsmen and women have received a lot of love so it felt very natural to diversify with many more streams of celebrities.

Will Bollywood continue to be a part of the initiative?

Yes, we will continue to host and put together special experiences for fans of Bollywood. Bollywood will always remain an integral part of our platform and there is a lot to look forward to towards the end of the year.

Tell us about the ‘Vaccination for All’ initiative.

The mission is spearheaded by Give India along with Narayan health, for which we are auctioning the special jerseys worn by the Royal Challengers Bangalore team. RCB has been very kind to donate all the player jerseys for us to raise money for ‘Vaccination for All’. The population in India is so high that any kind of assistance a private entity or NGO can provide to make sure the people are vaccinated against Covid-19 is helpful. The mission is our way of making sure that we can fund mobile vaccination drives in semi-urban India particularly, that don’t have access to vaccination centres or are unable to get paid vaccines. They also educate people against vaccine hesitancy. This is our way of helping the country get vaccinated at the fastest rate possible.
