Cornwell, who backed Hiddleston’s The Night Manager, keen to include action scenes from Hindi remake in the original’s second season
In the Indian adaptation, Aditya Roy Kapur steps into Tom Hiddleston’s role, with Anil Kapoor playing the antagonist
Adapting a successful series to a new milieu comes with its share of risks. But the team of The Night Manager — starring Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sobhita Dhulipala — seems to have got it right. Even as the thriller is set to drop on Disney+ Hotstar this week, one hears that Simon Cornwell — producer of the original British series of the same name, led by Tom Hiddleston — is impressed by some action scenes in the Hindi remake. A source reveals, “The makers of the British series are taken by the action sequences showcased in the Indian adaptation. They also liked how creator Sandeep Modi treated some dramatic scenes, and would like to include these elements in the second season of the original.”

Based on John le Carré’s 1993 best-selling novel of the same name, the plot revolves around a hotel’s night manager who is recruited to infiltrate the inner circle of an arms dealer. Cornwell says that the story has lent itself wonderfully to an Indian setting. He shares, “[It’s] a privilege to take this story and tell it in a whole new way. I would happily borrow some elements from this version to add [to the next instalment] of the original.”
