Anil Sharma broke major box-office records with his recently released film, Gadar 2. Starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, the high-on-drama actioner received a thumbs-up from the audience despite being panned by critics. In the latest interview with Bollywood Hungama, the director opened up about his bond with Ameesha, who plays Sakeena in the franchise.

Anil said, "Mera rishta kabhi kissi ke saath kharab nahi hota. Tu-tu-main-main bhi hui, theek bhi ho gayi. Ameesha ji ka nature aise hi hai. Pichli Gadar ke dauraan unse meeting ke dauraan tu-tu-main-main ho gayi thi. Woh bade ghar ki bitiya hain, unke mizaaj thode bade hain, magar dil ki buri nahi hain, dil ki achi hain. Bade ghar ki beti jo hoti hai kabhi kabhi tunakmizaaji aa jaati hai. Hum log chote ghar ke log hain. Hum log pyaar mohabbat se rehte hain. Woh bhi rehti hain, but thoda sa attitude, ek adaa hai unme jo kabhi kabhi tedhi-medhi ho jaati hai, lekin insaan achi hain (I have a good bond with everybody. I’ve had my share of disagreements with her, but that’s her nature. It had happened during the first film too. She comes from a big family, and she carries that attitude and air around with her. I’m a simple person, I believe in love. She does, too, but sometimes her attitude gets in the way. She is a kind person nonetheless)."

He further said Ameesha was 'weak at acting' in the 2000s and revealed the reason behind signing her for Gadar. "For Sakeena, I wanted an actor with a face like the moon. But she was weak at acting. Another girl we’d shortlisted was a better actor, but Ameesha had the built-in personality of someone from an important family. I knew we would have to train her, and she agreed to undergo training for six months," Anil added.

In June this year, Ameesha accused Anil Sharma Productions of mismanagement. In a series of tweets on X, the actress highlighted, "There were certain queries that many technicians like make-up artists, costume designers, and others, etc did not receive their rightful remuneration and dues from ANIL SHARMA PRODUCTIONS!! Yes, they did not !! But @ZeeStudios_ stepped in and made sure all dues were settled as they are a v professional company!"

She further added, "Yes, from accommodation, to transport to Chandigarh airport on the final day to food bills were left unpaid and cars were not provided to certain cast and crew members, leaving them stranded! But yet again @zeestudios stepped in and corrected these issues caused by ANIL SHARMA PRODUCTIONS!!!"

Ameesha thanked Zee Studios for coming to the rescue. Reacting to her claims, Anil said in an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, "I have no clue why she said all of this. All I would like to say is that this is all false, none of it is true. At the same time, I would like to thank Ameesha Patel. She made my production house famous. What can be bigger than this? I thank her for making our new production house famous."
