Anupam Kher’s directorial Tanvi The Great may not have succeeded at the box office, but the actor and filmmaker says the global appreciation it has earned means far more to him. Speaking at the Jagran Film Festival, he recalled a standout moment involving Hollywood legend Robert De Niro, with whom he has shared a close bond since Silver Linings Playbook (2012). Kher said De Niro watched the film and was especially impressed by Shubhangi Dutt’s performance as the protagonist. Kher shared, that such praise from De Niro is incredibly rare. He also joked, “In Indian cinema, Robert De Niro hasn’t spoken to anyone except me,” making the compliment even more memorable.
