Daughter of Tanuja and Shomu Mukherjee, Kajol is one of the leading actresses in Bollywood. She made her acting debut in 1992 and since then has delivered several blockbuster hits. She is also one of the most bubbly and down-to-earth celebrities in Bollywood. And this is the direct result of how her mother raised her.

The Devi actress recently opened up about her mother, and how that has made her a better person and helped her raise her own children. Speaking to Pinkvilla, she said, "My mother has passed down too many things to me. The most important thing that she passed down to me was, ‘You have to make your children think for themselves.’ I think that was the biggest learning that I took back and that led to everything.”

“They have to learn how to think for themselves, make their own decisions and find out whether they can live with their consequences or not. That is the only way they will learn whether this decision is the correct thing for them,” she added.

Kajol shares a warm bond with her mother and has always been vocal about it. In a recent interview, she had praised Tanuja's parenting skills. "I am grateful for her upbringing of me. I feel like I am a better person and adult today because of the things she taught me when I was a child. She always spoke to me like she wanted me to be a better adult. If I have done even a quarter of that with my daughter and my son, I think I would have brought up two wonderful kids," she said.

"I never had a rebellion as such with my mother. I had the most amazing relationship with her because she is amazing. Everything that she did in my life, every decision that she made, she explained it to me in the way I could understand it. Whether it was my parents breaking up, whether it was going to work or being a working woman. Whatever the bigger points in my life, she sat down, discussed with me, explained it to me, she waited for me to understand, figure things out and accept them before she got up from her chair and said 'discussion over'," she concluded.

In the media interaction before, Kajol had shared what it was like to be a mother during the lockdown period. She said, "It was a very, very concentrated period as a mother. My son goes to school from 8 am to 4 pm and now school came home and I had to attend it with him at least to make sure that he was in class."

"It was an interesting quarantine for us as a family. It was really intense and interesting," Kajol added.

The actress concluded, "At the end of the quarantine, I have to say that I'm very grateful for the fact that we had four bedrooms in the house. Each of us could get one bedroom and we could all go into the room and lock ourselves in whenever it felt like... to get that space from each other."

On the work front, Kajol was recently seen in Tribhanga, a family drama about three distinct women and their unconventional life choices. The film, written and directed by Renuka Shahane, also featured Tanvi Azmi and Mithila Palkar.
