Children’s films are hard to find in Bollywood. So, director Mehran Amrohi’s Chidiya, which tells the story of two young brothers who turn a forgotten junkyard in Dharavi into a badminton court, comes as a refreshing change of pace. Before its May 30 release, Mizoram’s Chief Minister Lalduhoma penned a letter to the makers, applauding them for telling a tender story from the point of view of children.
An excerpt from the letter read, “It is heartening to know that a film celebrating the dreams, resilience, and imagination of children has touched audiences... I commend your team for crafting a cinematic experience that uplifts and unites — a message most relevant in today’s world.”
