Deepika Padukone has always been a vocal advocate for the recognition of mental health struggles. The actress has been championing the cause ever since she came out in 2015 with her own struggles with mental health. The Pathaan actress has been vocal about educating our nation on the different kinds of struggles one can have with mental health.

Deepika was also massively trolled for bringing this issue to the forefront. Despite the backlash, she remained undeterred about being vocal about the cause. The actress even founded LiveLoveLaugh (LLL) in 2015. Speaking about her struggle, the actress said, "On 15th February 2014, I vividly remember waking up with a hollow feeling in my stomach. I felt empty and directionless. I had become irritable and would cry endlessly. For someone who loves to multitask, making decisions suddenly felt like a burden. Waking up every morning had become a struggle. I was exhausted and often thought of giving up." However, Deepika persevered and encouraged seeking professional help. "My love-hate relationship with the illness has taught me so much. To be patient for one, that you are not alone, but most importantly, that there is Hope.” she mentioned.
