While Abhay Verma wants to forge his own path in the world of movies, he does wish to imbibe certain qualities of Shah Rukh Khan beyond his professional success.
Newbie star Abhay Verma reveals how he is inspired by SRK
As Munjya becomes an unstoppable force at the box office, all eyes are on its leading man, Abhay Verma, who has broken out with the Dinesh Vijan-produced horror comedy. But for the actor, his eyes have only ever been on superstar Shah Rukh Khan. While the actor wants to forge his own path in the world of movies, he does wish to imbibe certain qualities of Khan beyond his professional success. In an interview with mid-day, Verma says Khan has been his hero all his life and he is in awe of his off-screen personality.

"I know there can't be any other Shah Rukh Khan. But I would really like to not only become a successful actor as he is but also as gentle a human being as him. That's the journey I would like to forge for myself, keeping Shah sir in my mind. He is a terrific actor and a superstar. But the journey of Shah Rukh Khan, the person, really inspires me. Box office success is a professional aspect of your life but what matters to me the most is what kind of a person you are. You can win as many hearts you want with your goodness. He is someone who I have looked up to. He has been my idol for the longest. I have done everything in my love for him except building a temple,” he quips.
Besides Verma, Munjya also stars Sharvari Wagh and Mona Singh in pivotal roles. It has so far amassed over Rs 60 crores at the box office. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Munjya is a part of Vijan’s horror comedy universe that already boasts of Rajkummar Rao-Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree and Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya. Dhawan and his Bhediya co-star Abhishek Banerjee even made an appearance in a post-credit scene of Munjya teasing a crossover between the two worlds. Stree 2, which is slated for an Independent Day release, is next in line in the popular universe.
