However, when the film was released, there were reports suggesting that originally, Rani Mukerji was the filmmaker’s first choice. Now, Aditya Narayan, who was once Bhansali’s assistant director, has confirmed this speculation.

During a recent appearance on Bharti TV, Aditya Narayan recalled being jobless after Shaapit’s failure and ended up working with Bhansali as an AD. Aditya said, “As I had no other work, I decided to learn something new. I was drawn to filmmaking because I had been interested in making music and music videos since childhood. It was Sonu Nigam (also a judge on X Factor India) who asked me why I shouldn’t consider assisting Bhansali."
