Sarke Chunar controversy: NCW issues summons to Nora, Sanjay Dutt & makers

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has issued summons to actors Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt along with others in connection with the controversy surrounding the song “Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke”. Acting under its powers granted by the National Commission for Women Act, 1990, the Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports alleging obscenity and vulgarity in the song.

According to the Commission, the content prima facie appears to be sexually suggestive, objectionable and potentially violative of provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
