Singer Shaan is set to accompany 30 musicians — including Shreya Ghoshal, Armaan Malik, Raftaar, and Sachin-Jigar, among others — in MTV’s World Music Day concert, Lift Up, which will see artistes perform their favourite songs, and share anecdotes on tracks that helped lift their spirits during the pandemic.

“In keeping with the occasion, I will include songs with world music influence. Today, we have access to different kinds of music. If I want to know what kind of music is heard in Morocco or Romania, I can access it; that is exciting. Also, listeners have opened up their minds to different genres,” he says. As one who has seen music being created since the 70s — when songs were rendered in lavish sets in the presence of  100 musicians — to watching tracks being made in studios set up at home, it’s been a long journey for Shaan. “We’ve gone from cut and paste, to fix and treat. As long as one can maintain a certain quality, adapting to change is not hard.”
