Senior actress Seema Deo has passed away at the age of 83. The actress breathed her last on August 24. Confirming the news of her demise, her filmmaker son Abhinay Deo told Indianexpress.com, "Mom passed away earlier today. She was fine, she was suffering from Alzheimer’s, but otherwise she was fine.”


In 2020, Abhinay had opened up about his mother’s medical condition and tweeted, “My mother Shrimati Seema Deo, doyen of Marathi film industry, is suffering from Alzheimer’s. We, the entire Deo family, have been praying for her well being, wish whole of Maharashtra who loved her so much also pray for her well being.”


Seema Deo who was born as Nalini Saraf was a well known face in both Hindi a nd Marathi cinema. She was married to actor Ramesh Deo. They have two sons, actor Ajinkya Deo and director Abhinay Deo. Ramesh Deo passed away in 2002 following a heart attack. 


Seema Deo, who made her acting debut in 1960 with 'Miya Bibi Razi', has worked in films like 'Anand', 'Koshish', 'Kashmakash', and 'Kora Kagaz' among others. 

In 2017, Seema said she owed her career to her guru Raja Paranjape. She said in Pune at an event, “Whatever I could achieve in my career, it’s all because of my guru Raja Paranjape. He not only taught me to act but also trained me so rigorously that it became very natural.”

Seema is survived by her sons Ajinkya Deo and Abhinay Deo. While Abhinay has directed films like 'Game', 'Delhi Belly', and 'Force 2', Ajinkya Deo is a well known Marathi film actor Dev worked with Ajay Devgn in 1999 action movie 'Gair' and 2020 historical action movie 'Tanhaji that also starred Kajol and Saif Ali Khan.
