In a historic and thrilling match, Spanish player Carlos Alcaraz defeated seven-time champion Novak Djokovic to claim his first Wimbledon title on Sunday. The thrilling match was witnessed live by several high profile public figures including Catherine, Princess of Wales. Bollywood celebrity Sonam Kapoor along with her husband Anand Ahuja was also present at the final match between Djokovic and Alcaraz.

On Monday morning, Sonam Kapoor took to her Instagram handle to share pictures from the Wimbledon court. She looked stunning in an-all green printed outfit for the big match. She was accompanied by her husband and their friends. Sharing the images from the match, Kapoor-Ahuja wrote, "What an incredible historical match to watch, with such brilliant company! Congratulations to the insanely talented @carlitosalcarazz and the amazing"

Several celebrities took to their social media handle to share congratulatory messages for Alcaraz. Kareena Kapoor took to her handle and wrote, "Uffff Dream Big". She shared a post which included a quito by Novak Djokovic. "People have been talking about his game consisting of certain elements from Roger, Rafa and myself. I'd agree with that. He's basically go the best of all three worlds. I haven't played a player like him ever."

"Make way for this young legend. This combo of talent and temperament at 20 is so rare," wrote Ayushmann Khurrana sharing a picture of his TV with Alcaraz on screen post winning the match.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas attended the women's Wimbledon final and witnessed Markéta Vondroušová win her first grand slam from the royal box.

Talking about the final match, World number one Alcaraz recovered from dropping the first set and saving a set point in the second to win 1-6, 7-6 (8/6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 after four hours and 42 minutes on Centre Court. It was a second major for the 20-year-old Spaniard following his US Open title last year as he became Wimbledon's third youngest men's champion. The result will also spark feverish speculation over the start of a generational shift, with 36-year-old Djokovic carrying the torch of the 'Big Three' now that Roger Federer is retired and Rafael Nadal is sidelined, perhaps permanently. Australian Open and French Open champion Djokovic had been bidding to equal Federer's record of eight Wimbledon titles, match Margaret Court's all-time mark of 24 Slams and become the All England Club's oldest men's champion.
