Over a career spanning nearly two decades, Arijit Singh has lent his voice to over 300 songs across multiple languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, and Telugu.

Arijit Singh was born in Jiaganj, Murshidabad, in West Bengal on April 25, 1987. His father is Punjabi, while his mother is Bengali.

His maternal side was always into music. Hence, the artist’s dream was to become a successful singer since childhood. He was trained under the Hazari Brothers at the age of three. He even earned a scholarship from the government for classical music training at the age of nine.

Arijit Singh was one of the participants in the singing reality show Fame Gurukul (2005), wherein he could not even manage to be among the top five.

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali spotted his potential and offered him the song Yun Shabnami for Saawariya (2007). His version, however, never made it to the final album, much like the music project he later signed with producer Ramesh Taurani, which was also shelved.

There is a lot of confusion regarding his first song. Many think it was Phir Mohabbat from Murder 2. However, Arijit Singh’s first song was All For One from High School Musical 2. He rose to fame in 2013 with Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2.

Much before becoming a playback singer, Arijit Singh worked as a music programmer for noted Bollywood music directors, including Pritam Chakraborty, Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, Vishal–Shekhar, and Mithoon.

Arijit lives a remarkably modest and grounded life in Jiaganj, Murshidabad, far from Mumbai’s celebrity ecosystem. One of the most defining aspects of his grounded lifestyle is his decision to enroll his sons in a local school in Jiaganj rather than a high-profile institution in Mumbai.

According to a report by The Economic Times, Arijit Singh’s estimated net worth stands at approximately Rs 414 crore (around 50 million dollar). Arijit reportedly owns four apartments in a building in Mumbai’s Versova area, each valued at around Rs 9 crore. His car collection includes a Range Rover Vogue, Hummer H3, and a Mercedes-Benz.

Arijit Singh commands a premium fee for his work. According to multiple reports, the singer charges approximately Rs 8 to Rs 10 lakh per song for film projects. Reports also claim that he earns around Rs 14 crore for a two-hour live concert.

He has won two National Film Awards for best male playback singer. One was for Brahmastra and other for Binte Dil from Padmaavat.

Arijit Singh got married for the second time to his childhood friend, Koel Roy, in 2014. His first marriage did not last long, and the duo got divorced in 2013. They reportedly got married at the Tarapeeth temple in West Bengal.
