The tragic and sudden passing away of industrialist Sunjay Kapur shocked everyone. Sunjay, who was also the ex-husband of Bollywood actress Karisma Kapur, passed away on June 12, 2025.

Sunjay was reportedly playing polo in London when he accidentally swallowed a bee, leading to a heart attack, which caused his death. He was 53 at the time of his death. 

Following his passing away, his mortal remains were brought to India, where his last rites were held in  Delhi today. 

According to earlier reports, the family was facing legal challenges in getting Sunjay`s mortal remains to India. Reports claimed that the funeral was allegedly delayed due to certain legal formalities which are required due to his US citizenship.

Karisma Kapoor attended the funeral of her ex-husband, along with her kids. Her sister Kareena Kapoor and brother-in-law Saif Ali Khan also paid their respects.

Sunjay`s last rites were held at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground (Dayanand Muktidham) in Delhi, today, on 19th June 2025.

Photos and videos from the funeral ceremony have emerged, wherein Karisma looked upset as she paid her last respects to her former husband.

Karisma and Sunjay got married in 2003 and had two kids together, a daughter named Samaira and a son Kiaan. 

Their son Kiaan was seen breaking down at the funeral service, as aunt Kareena Kapoor consoled him. 

Sunjay and Karisma parted ways in 2016, citing personal differences. Sunjay then married actress Priya Sachdev, as he kids stayed with Karisma.

Sunjay was a renownned industrialist, who headed Sona Comstar, a global mobility technology company, which develops and delivers mechanical, electrical, electronic systems and components, and automotive software.

Sunjay`s family, business collegeaues, and his polo friends were also seen attending his funeral and paying their last respects to him

Sunjay Kapur is survived by his third wife Priya Sachdev and their son Azarias.
