Just a few days ahead of their 29th wedding anniversary, popular singer Akon's wife Tomeka Thiam has filed for divorce from the musician. The couple got married on September 15, 1996 and shares a 17-year-old daughter named Journey.

According to reports, Thaim filed for divorce from the Don't Matter star, citing irreconcilable differences. Thaim also listed their date of separation as "TBD." According to the filings, they have one child together, their 17-year-old daughter, Journey. The musician's estranged wife has requested joint legal custody of Journey. She has also requested that she have physical custody of the teen while Akon gets visitation.
