Ex-NCT’s Taeil apologises to survivor in appeal, vows lifelong atonement

In June 2024, ex-NCT vocalist Taeil and two friends were convicted of sexually assaulting an intoxicated foreign woman in an Itaewon disco. He was sentenced to 3.6 years in prison under South Korea’s sexual crimes law

Former NCT vocalist Taeil agreed to sexual assault charges and issued a `sincere apology` to the victim during the first session of his appeal trial. It was Taeil`s first hearing after appealing his 3.6-year jail sentence for special quasi-rape under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.

Taeil admits all his crimes

In June 2024, Taeil and two friends were convicted of sexually assaulting an intoxicated foreign woman they met in an Itaewon disco. During the appeal trial, Taeil argued that "I acknowledge all my sins and reflect on them. Above all, I know that words or actions cannot completely heal the wounds the victim feels. Nevertheless, I take this opportunity to offer my sincere apology."
