Jana Nayagan, starring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role, was slated for release on January 9, 2026, coinciding with Pongal this year. However, as the CBFC certification is still pending, the makers were forced to postpone the release, leaving many fans and audiences disheartened. While the matter is currently being heard in the Madras High Court, the makers have now moved the Supreme Court, challenging the order passed by the High Court’s division bench.
As per PTI, the Supreme Court is slated to hear, on January 15, the plea filed by the producer of Vijay-starrer Tamil film Jana Nayagan, challenging an interim order of the Madras High Court that stayed a single-judge direction to grant CBFC clearance to the movie.
