Ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, actor-turned-politician Vijay is drawing massive public attention, but the surge in supporters has created unrest in his otherwise quiet and upscale neighbourhood in Panaiyur. Residents living near the office of his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), have complained about losing their peace due to the constant influx of volunteers, fans, and party workers gathering in the area.

The situation escalated recently when thousands reportedly assembled outside the party office to collect nomination forms and take part in pre-election activities. Streets along the busy East Coast Road (ECR) were heavily congested, with vehicles stuck in long queues and pedestrians struggling to move freely. Residents say daily life has been significantly disrupted, with noise, traffic jams, and heavy police presence becoming a regular occurrence.
