He was later produced before a magistrate and has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Following his arrest, the Women in Cinema Collective has slammed the Malayalam film industry’s power structures. Now, WCC founding member Parvathy Thiruvothu has reacted to the filmmaker’s arrest.

Parvathy Thiruvothu, one of the founding members of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), talks about industry men not fearing consequences. “This current arrest of Ranjith doesn’t come across as a surprise or shock to me. It, of course, is a repeated offence. These are people who aren’t paying the price of what they did in the past.”
