Director Karthik Subbaraj on Saturday disclosed that his film 'Retro', featuring actor Suriya in the lead, literally had to fight a war after its theatrical release.
 
The ace director, who took to his X timeline to pen a post of gratitude to audiences, wrote, "50 days since #Retro!! Whattey roller coaster of emotional ride it was for me personally.... The film literally fought a WAR after it's theatrical release.... Beyond targeted hatred and agendas... there was love... Loads of love to us that made The One win this war!! #TheOneWon."

The director further said,"Thanks for all the genuine constructive criticism...reviews and feedback... Have definitely taken it all and will reflect in my future works. Retro... Will always be a special special film for everyone of us involved in the film... Love you all, my dear audience."

It may be recalled that the film, featuring actors Suriya and Pooja Hegde in the lead, had grossed an impressive Rs 235 crore globally.
